After parting ways with frontman Jonny Craig in 2019, Matt McAndrew stepped in as the new vocalist of Slaves. McAndrew, the runner up on the seventh season of The Voice, filled in for vocals on tour before officially joining Slaves. Since the lineup change, the band have been hard at work touring around the world with artists including Escape The Fate and Blessthefall.

Now, Slaves are preparing to release their new album To Better Days this summer. This will mark their first full-length LP with McAndrew on lead vocals. On the new album, McAndrew believes that this collection of 13 songs is the band's best work yet.

"We're excited to finally share our new album, To Better Days with you," McAndrew says. "I'm so proud of how this record turned out and how well we all worked together to create these songs. We feel it's the band's best work to date and we hope you enjoy the music as much as we enjoyed making it."

Included on To Better Days is "Heavier," the first single Slaves released with McAndrew as the lead vocalist in 2019.

In celebration of the album announcement, Slaves have also released a music video for their new single "Wasting My Youth."As McAndrew shares, the single is about the cathartic process of releasing repressed emotions following past mistakes and moments in life.

"There is a lyric, 'The feeling I've repressed is going out of style,'" McAndrew explains. "It's about finding the truth and holding it back [feeling] like coming to the brink of sneezing and then missing it. You have this build-up, this realization, and these feelings that are coming to a head and need to be released. Maybe that release is pleasure or maybe it's pain or maybe just catharsis. But it's a relief to have it out. If you miss that opportunity for release, you don't get it again. 'Wasting My Youth' is about that bottled up frustration that comes from staying in a situation past its expiration date and what that does to a person."

Along with the relatable inspiration that will resonate with many listeners, "Wasting My Youth" features Slaves' signature sound and offers a glimpse into what fans can expect to hear on To Better Days.

The "Wasting My Youth" music video is available to watch below. To Better Days arrives on August 7 via SBG Records. Fans can purchase album pre-orders here.
