Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan is done talking about D'arcy Wretzky

Here's a development on the Smashing Pumpkins reunion drama: Frontman Billy Corgan doesn't want to talk about ex-bassist D'arcy Wretzky.

“There’s a time and a place for everything, and this just isn’t the time,” Corgan told friend and Chicago DJ Mancow during an interview transcribed by Alternative Nation.

Mancow began the question by saying that he knew how excited Corgan was to reconnect with James Iha and Wretzky. “I know you put on a brave face. You’re the leader of the band, and the leader can’t always show emotion, but from a friendship point of view, are you sad about what happened?” the DJ asked.

Instead of adding more fuel to the fire, Corgan responded, “Honestly, I don’t really want to talk about it.”

Mancow continued, saying he understood, but had to ask.

“Yeah, it’s not a problem,” Corgan said. “I think the difficulty is the world works in a particular way these days; it’s very much like professional wrestling.”

Last month, Corgan seemingly confirmed the news that the band are recording a reunion album, explaining that he's in the studio with Rick Rubin. Earlier this week, Corgan took to Instagram to say that the band will be refining the lyrics for eight new SP songs. The band also announced their “Shiny And Oh So Bright” tour last week, their first tour in nearly 20 years, featuring founding members Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin and Iha. However, former bassist Wretzky will not be part of the tour or the record, with a never-ending back-and-forth between the band and Wretzky happening over the past couple months.
