Smashing Pumpkins songs are about Courtney Love, says Courtney Love

According to NME, Courtney Love recently claimed that she’s the subject for a number of Smashing Pumpkins songs. She also said that when frontman Billy Corgan stopped writing about her, Smashing Pumpkins “stopped making hits.”

Prior to marrying Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, Love had briefly dated Corgan, and she’s now saying that most of 1993’s Siamese Dream is about her.

In an recent interview (via NME), BBC 6Music asked Love if she had a favorite Smashing Pumpkins track. “Yeah, loads,” she responded, “because there are so many of them that are about me. 'Siamese Dream,' 'Bodies,' 'Today'… He stopped writing about me and then he stopped making hits.”

Love continued, “'Where Boys Fear to Tread' was about [her] and Trent [Reznor of Nine Inch Nails] and how mad he was about that. There's one on 'Siamese Dream' called 'Spaceboy'—that's about his brother, but the rest are all pretty much about me.”

If you missed it, someone recently isolated Courtney Love’s vocals and guitars. Check it out below:
