Listen to Pierce Jordan of Soul Glo’s Black History Month playlist

This Black History Month, AltPress is passing the mic to some of our favorite artists so they can highlight the Black artists and Black-fronted bands they’re listening to right now.

Soul Glo are among the leaders in the hardcore scene today, and they have contributed to the evolution of the genre monumentally. The Philadelphia natives, who first came together to form the group in 2014, have long sung of the need for political action, indicted the systems in place for being stagnant, and fearlessly brought attention to what it’s like being a minority in the scene. It’s because of them and their radical, hip-hop-inspired punk that hardcore continues to progress, inspiring a handful of rising acts and reaching new listeners with releases like last year’s Diaspora Problems

Pierce Jordan, the vocalist behind Soul Glo, shared a 52-song playlist, which runs the gamut of fellow Philadelphia hometown heroes, punk acts, ska bands, and so much more. Check it out below, and you might just discover a new favorite rising act.
