Last week, it was confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch is reprising his Doctor Strange role for Spider-Man 3. Doctor Strange is stepping in as Peter Parker’s mentor following the death of Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame. As well, Jamie Foxx is reprising his role as Electro for the highly-anticipated film.

Now, it looks like even more familiar faces may be returning for Spider-Man 3. According to various reports, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are reprising their Spider-Man roles for the new film.

FandomWire reports that Garfield and Maguire will appear in Holland’s Spider-Man universe for the film’s final act. Together, they will fight off all of Spider-Man’s foes. Given that Electro is returning for Spider-Man 3, this could mean that various villains from Spider-Man’s past are returning for the MCU film.

Sony and Marvel have not confirmed Garfield and Maguire for the new film. However, seeing that Foxx’s return was initially leaked, the companies could be keeping things under lock and key to avoid any further spoilers.

We first saw Maguire take on the role of Peter Parker in 2002’s Spider-Man. He then went on to star in Spider-Man 2 and 3 before the role was handed over the Garfield. The British-American actor portrayed Peter Parker in two films – The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel. In 2017, however, Holland took on the iconic role in Homecoming.

Spider-Man 3 premieres on Dec. 17, 2021. Given the various release delays with Marvel Phase 4, this film’s release date could be pushed to 2022.
