Fans have been in mourning since learning that Spider-Man would be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a result of Sony and Disney being unable to reach a deal

Since then, they’ve created a lot of memes and art to handle their heartbreak. That includes a new fan trailer where the hero meets Deadpool in a truly insane crossover.

To backtrack, it was previously reported that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will no longer produce future spidey films due to the inability of the companies to “reach new terms that would have given (Sony) a co-financing stake going forward.”

The last two films Feige produced with Spider-Man, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, both broke records.

There are two more Spider-Man films in the works directed by Jon Watts and again starring Tom Holland. However, Feige won’t be the lead creative producer.

Sony Pictures chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra has since told Variety that for the time being, no deal will be made to keep Spider-Man around the MCU.

“For the moment the door is closed,” Vinciquerra says before clarifying there is “no ill will” between Sony and Marvel and hinting there could be a possible resolution in the future.

“We had a great run with [Feige] on Spider-Man movies,” Vinciquerra said.

“We tried to see if there’s a way to work it out… the Marvel people are terrific people. We have great respect for them, but on the other hand we have some pretty terrific people of our own. Kevin didn’t do all the work.”

Despite the grim future of Spider-Man and the MCU, fans still have some kind of hope. Many fans even turned to Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds to try to save the future of Spider-Man and Marvel after the split.

YouTuber Billy Crammer has since created a trailer where Spider-Man and Deadpool come together, which will probably never happen now due to the breakup.

The video uses footage from Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films and Deadpool to make a promo for a fake film we actually wish was real. They heros are the most unlikely yet predictable duo, and we only wish this crossover was actually happening.

You can see the fan trailer below.

Spider-Man: Far From Home, the latest film to feature the character, recently became Sony’s highest-grossing film ever. Without the MCU tie, it’s unclear how the future films will play out.
