'Spider-Man: Far From Home' almost had Donald Glover reprise his cameo

As Spider-Man: Far From Home continues to dazzle audiences around the world, screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommars are opening up about fan theories and what “almost” happened in the Marvel film.

As it turns out, Donald Glover almost had a cameo in the recent Spider-Man sequel.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, McKenna and Sommars opened up about the alternate paths the film almost took.

As Spider-Man fans will recall, Glover made an appearance in Homecoming, playing the role of Aaron Davis.

Comic-book fans and viewers of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse will recognize the criminal as the uncle of Miles Morales’ Spider-Man.

Originally, the idea was to have Glover’s character make a cameo before Peter Parker and his classmates take off to Europe.

“We definitely considered that,” McKenna explains. “We definitely thought, ‘How great it would be to bring back Aaron Davis again.’ Other considerations come in, we went down that road a little bit, then the movie really spent such little time in Queens and gets to Europe pretty quickly. Some ideas you just have to give up.”

Sommars adds, “That’s really what it came down to. We loved that character and we wanted to do it, but we just wanted to get out of New York and get on the trip as soon as possible. There were several things we would have loved to do in New York before he left, but we just didn’t have time.”
