No, Spirit Halloween didn’t really take over the Amoeba Music building
Since Halloween is near, Spirit Halloween is moving into abandoned buildings to bring the spookiest costumes to you.
However, a photo of Spirit Halloween taking over the old Amoeba Music building has surfaced and the internet isn't too happy. But, is the photo actually real?
The closure of the Amoeba Music building on Sunset Boulevard is a sore subject for both L.A. natives and music lovers. The iconic building closed permanently back in April amid the coronavirus pandemic for a number of reasons. Although this specific location is closed for good, Amoeba Music has moved just a few blocks away to 6200 Hollywood Blvd.
However, a photo of Spirit Halloween moving into the now vacant building is sparking some feelings on the internet. Waterparks frontman Awsten Knight is among those that are outraged by the company's decision to temporarily take over the historic location.
But is the news actually true? We did a little bit of deep diving to find out. According to Spirit Halloween's website, the company does have a location this year on Hollywood Boulevard. However, it is not in the original Amoeba Music building which is located at 6400 Sunset Blvd. Instead, Spirit Halloween has taken over a vacant Pier 1 Imports building at 5711 Hollywood Blvd.
So while Spirit Halloween continues to prepare for Halloween 2020, it doesn't look like it plans on taking over the historic Amoeba Music building any time soon.confirmed it was returning
