Spotify Wrapped season is among us. Last week, the streaming platform hinted that our personalized Spotify Wrapped results are right around the corner. With 2019’s Spotify Wrapped arriving on Dec. 5, it’s likely our personalized streaming results could debut sometime this week.

In the meantime, Spotify has revealed which songs, albums and artists were streamed the most globally in 2020. As it turns out, the world really likes the Weeknd. His song “Blinding Lights” is officially the top streamed song of 2020 with over 1.6 billion streams this year. Due to its popularity on TikTok, it’s not surprising to see this track top Spotify’s global streaming list.

Trailing behind “Blinding Lights” are Tones and I‘s “Dance Monkey” and Roddy Ricch‘s “The Box” in the second and third spots. This year’s fourth most-streamed song globally is  “Roses – Imanbek Remix” by Imanbek and SAINt JHN and in fifth is Dua Lipa‘s “Don’t Start Now.”

2020’s most-streamed global artists make up quite the boy’s club. Bad Bunny takes the top spot this year with 8.3 billion streams globally. As well, his album YHLQMDLG is the number one most streamed album in 2020. Drake and J Balvin take the second and third spots of top global artists, followed by late rapper Juice WRLD in fourth and the Weeknd in fifth.

Billie Eilish continues her reign as Spotify’s top streamed female artist globally. 2020 marks her second year as the platform’s most-streamed female artist. Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande follow Eilish in second and third place with Dua Lipa and Halsey rounding out the list in the fourth and fifth spots.

As mentioned before, Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG is the most streamed album of 2020 with 3.3 billion streams, followed by the Weeknd’s After Hours and Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding. Rounding out the list of most-streamed albums are Harry Styles’ Fine Line and Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia.

For obvious reasons, Spotify also saw a massive increase in the amount of work from home-related playlists this year. As well, those between the ages of 18 – 24 listened to podcasts on the platform for the very first time. All of Spotify’s 2020 streaming data is available to view here.
