Juice WRLD passed away suddenly in December 2019. Then, on July 10, his posthumous album Legends Never Die was released. The 22-track album went on to debut at No.1 on the Billboard 200 with 497,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States.

As well, three songs off of Legends Never Die are in the top 20 most-streamed Spotify songs of the summer in the United States. “Righteous,” “Come & Go” featuring Marshmello and “Wishing Well” are all ranked within the top 15.

Now, Stand Atlantic have come together for a new cover of Juice WRLD’s “Righteous.” While adding their own pop-punk sound, the band created a new layer of emotion to the already emotional track.

As frontwoman Bonnie Fraser shares in the post-performance interview, she became a fan of “Righteous” the moment she heard it.

“The guitar riff definitely caught me the first time I heard it and it like sucked me right in.”

For the new cover, Stand Atlantic knew they wanted to step out of their comfort zone.

“We’ve always kind of stuck to our realm and we really wanted to try something different, out of our genre,” bassist Miki Rich shares.

Stand Atlantic decided to take “Righteous” up a notch while still keeping its emotional integrity intact. Ultimately, the band hope listeners enjoy their unexpected cover and what they’ve done with the Juice WRLD track.

“We’re quite hard on ourselves, I guess. We want to push ourselves all the time so we were like, ‘if this doesn’t rock, then there’s no point,’” Fraser says. “At the end of the day, a cover is supposed to kind of bring two worlds together and that’s what we wanted to do. I hope people can kind of take that from what we’ve done.”
