‘Star Wars’ saga’s fired director jokes about ‘Episode IX’ sci-fi crossover
According to ComicBook.com, Trevorrow was originally dismissed from the Star Wars installment months before filming began. The ex-director was allegedly fired upon the basis of “creative differences.” However, he has since picked up a gig working on the forthcoming Jurassic World film.
Luckily enough for fans of the Star Wars franchise, it appears as though Trevorrow hasn’t let that loss get to him all that much. That said, the joke in question bridges the Jurassic World and Star Wars universes together. When a fan tagged Trevorrow in a tweet mentioning both Luke Skywalker and Dennis Nedry, he quickly answered the call.
While getting fired from anywhere is no walk in the park, when Trevorrow left the Star Wars universe, he only had positive things to say of his experience.
"I don't want to talk too much about it because I don't want to affect the way that fans get to see these films," Trevorrow says in a story with Empire Magazine. "When we were kids, these movies came to us from far away. They were a gift. And the more we talk about how they're made, the more it reveals that they're just movies. But they're not just movies, they're more than that. Beyond that, I got the opportunity to tell a story that is a celebration of everything I believe in, I got to tell it to George Lucas and I got to tell it to Luke Skywalker, and those are experiences I will cherish for the rest of my life."
Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker’s trailer premiered on Friday before finally surfacing online, featuring scenes from Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and more while building up even more anticipation for the film. You can watch it below.
