'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' footage teases Dark Rey

All eyes were on D23 this weekend as Disney unveiled more about their highly anticipated streaming service Disney+, Marvel and more. Perhaps one of the biggest reveals of the weekend was footage from the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Security was tight in order to prevent any leaks online. Fortunately, fans didn’t have to wait too long until the footage was officially released.

The film is slated to mark the end of what Lucasfilm has dubbed The Skywalker Saga.

The D23 trailer emphasizes the legacy, showing key characters throughout the Saga while leading up to The Rise of Skywalker footage.

What has really thrown fans for a loop is a glimpse at our beloved Rey who looks like she’s joined the dark side as she dons a dark cloak and a red lightsaber.

We have questions.

Check out the D23 trailer below!

The film is expected to hit theaters December 20.

More on Star Wars

More Star Wars news surfaced from D23 as Disney unveiled an all-new, interactive vacation experience set aboard the star cruiser Halcyon.

“Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be a new, first-of-its-kind vacation experience where guests will check-in for a two-night adventure aboard a glamorous starship.” The Disney Parks website reads. “Once onboard, guests will interact with characters and become active participants in stories that unfold around them on their galactic journey.

“Inside the Disney Parks “Imagining Tomorrow, Today” pavilion at D23 Expo, visitors will be able to see a new model and incredible visuals of the starcruiser – called the Halcyon.” The website continues.

While this isn’t much information, we can’t help but breathe a little heavier. You can definitely count us in when this opens. We hope they bring Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes as entertainment.
