Stephen King reacts to ‘Pet Sematary’ controversial plot change
But what does good ole Stephen King think of the upcoming film? To put it bluntly, he thinks "it's fucking great."
The film aired for critics and fans at this year’s SXSW festival in Texas. Many critics tweeted that the film exceeded their expectations and is one of the best King adaptations to date.
King recently sat down with EW to voice his opinion on the upcoming film.
"It's fucking great. It's a really good movie. It's a grown-up, adult kind of movie. It's not like twelve semi-clad teens get killed in a summer camp."

He then goes on to discuss one major plot change with the film, which substitutes the death of Gage Creed for Ellie Creed.
"It's something different. They did a good job. Boy, I saw all the stuff that came online when people realized that it was Ellie rather than Gage that got run over in the road, and I'm thinking like, 'Man, these people... 'It's so nuts.' You can take Route 301 and go to Tampa, or you could take Route 17 and go to Tampa. But both times, you're gonna come out at Tampa! You know what I'm saying? It didn't change anything for me. I thought, 'Okay, I understand why they did it because it's maybe easier to work with a zombie when she's a little girl than a toddler.'"
If you are unfamiliar with the horror classic, read Paramount Pictures’ synopsis below:
“Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed, who, after relocating with his wife Rachel and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.”
