Stranger Things 4‘s first teaser “From Russia With Love…” confirmed that Jim Hopper is alive after his supposed death at the end of season 3. David Harbour who plays Hopper revealed in a March interview that season 4 is likely to premiere in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Netflix shut down all productions for its shows in March in response to the pandemic's health and safety restrictions.
Despite these delays, the writers for the hit Netflix series revealed a massive hint last week. On social media, the writers seemingly revealed that season 4 could have nine episodes in total.
Now, the Duffer Brothers are sharing even more secrets. In a new interview with Deadline, the brothers tease that some of their personal icons are appearing in Stranger Things 4.
“We have a couple of cool ones [guest stars] this year,” the Duffer Brothers say. “It’s a really fun way to meet one of your icons. You know, write a part for them and see if they want to do it.”
As season 4 approaches, some are wondering if the end of Stranger Things is near. The Duffer Brothers revealed that they may not know when the series will end, but they do know how it will end.
“We like to look at each season as kind of its own complete story," Matt Duffer shares. "We do have a pretty large mythology. I think when we were developing Season 1, and to Netflix’s credit, they sort of pressured us to make sure we had this mythology really hammered out. We had like a 25-page sort of Stranger Things mythology that only maybe a small handful of people have seen. So we do have a general sense of where we’re going. We’ve known the ending of the show for quite a while.”

As for season 4’s storyline, there is still a lot left to know. The February teaser confirms that Hopper is alive and is in a work camp in Russia. It could be assumed that season 4 may focus on Hopper getting rescued from the camp. However, all major plotlines have not been revealed.
We do know that Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin and Noah Schnapp are returning for the new season. Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Winona Ryder, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton are also reprising their characters. Stranger Things newcomer Maya Hawke will also appear as her character Robin along with fan-favorite Priah Ferguson who plays Erica.
Since its delay, the release date for Stranger Things 4 has not been revealed. In the meantime, the teaser featuring Hopper is available to watch below.
