There’s a new game based on Stranger Things in the works! However, you’ll have to wait a little bit for it.

Variety is reporting the retro-style game will follow the events of season three, and it’s coming out some time next year.

Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer made the announcement during the Game Awards on Thursday, Nov. 6. They also shared a trailer for the game.

The title is a “meticulously crafted Action Adventure RPG that pays homage to the 16-bit era,” according to a press release from Netflix (via Variety). Plus, it is supposedly offering a cooperative style of play.

The game will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Mac and PC. However, there will also be a version for mobile devices.

Stranger Things Season 3: What we know so far

Stranger Things season three finished production in Mid-November, and the cast shared some heartfelt posts. David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) and Noah Schnapp (ill Byers) have announced the show’s last day of production with Instagram posts.

Brown’s left us especially tear-eyed and got many fans speculating that would be the last season of the show. The actor later clarified that the post may have been taken out of context, saying that it wasn’t her goodbye from the show, rather, it was just a goodbye to the season.

We already know some details about season three, including that Hawkins, Indiana will be getting a new hang out spot for the kids and teens. The place will be called Starcourt Mall, where you’ll find the “cool kids” frequenting.

What’s more?

The mall was announced to be opening in “next summer,” which is when the new season is coming.

We also know that the cast will be adding three new characters into the Hawkins mix—an “alternative girl,” Cary Elwes playing the Hawkins mayor, a “handsome, slick and sleazy” ’80s politician and Jake Busey playing a local journalist with “questionable morals.”

Plus, it was recently reported the show is set to be “much darker” than in previous seasons. According to Producer and director Shawn Levy the show will go to some darker places than we’ve seen:

“[It’s] definitely going to get darker still, places that I think audiences are going to really love,” Levy revealed. “It’s got so much heart and humor.”

While we’re stoked about all of the Stranger Things’ news, the best news of all is that our favorite dad Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) is set to have a bigger role in Season 3.

“We’ll definitely get to see some more of Steve Harrington in Season 3, and I’ll just say we won’t be abandoning the Dad Steve magic. I don’t want to say much more, but I literally feel that we were walking along and we stumbled onto a gold mine with Dad Steve,” Levy says.
