Archives is unfettered on “NBPQ (Topless)” as she experiments with different rhythms and forms of percussion. Occasionally, a subtle violin appears, tying each component of the song together with its subdued cry.

She revealed the track’s inspiration in a press release.

“[The song is] about my insecurities that I have being a brown skin Black female in the world and how to navigate through that while facing American beauty standards,” she explains. “It’s a song of redemption and freedom.”

In May, Archives announced her North American Homecoming tour. Make sure to grab tickets here.
