Jon Walker, formerly of Panic! At The Disco

Hear ex-Panic! At The Disco bassist's wistful new solo song

“The way it was is never how it will be again,” former Panic! At The Disco bassist and the Young Veins member Jon Walker sings on his new solo song, “The Way It Was,” a jaunty but heart-heavy alt-rock rumination on the hazy past through the focused lens of the present. Hear the rocking new tune from the multi-faceted musician, below.

It’s apparently the first of taste of music from a forthcoming new album release by the veteran performer called Jon Walker’s Impending Bloom, as noted in the song’s YouTube video description and as picked up on by Rock Sound.

“Life goes on,” it continues, “but not the same without you.”

Walker played on P!ATD’s 2008 album Pretty. Odd. and its follow-up concert collection, Live In Chicago, before leaving the group along with co-founder Ryan Ross the following year. He and Ross later formed the short-lived the Young Veins, issuing Take A Vacation! in 2010, and he’s since released a handful of solo recordings under his own name.

Panic! themselves—who are seemingly following a more metal muse of late—just dropped their latest album Pray For The Wicked this past summer. It spawned hits for the Brendon Urie-led group such as “Say Amen (Saturday Night)” and “High Hopes,” the latter of which has become the band’s biggest charting single since 2006’s “I Write Sins Not Tragedies.”
