Aaron Lewis tells Texas crowd he can’t speak Spanish because he’s “American”
Staind’s Aaron Lewis ended a Texas show early after he deemed that the crowd wasn’t being quiet enough for him to play.
Lewis’s solo acoustic show was in Pharr, TX, which is right on the border of Mexico and has a population of many Spanish speakers. When Lewis couldn’t get the crowd to quiet down, some fans suggested he ask in Spanish.

However, Lewis responded with a snide remark many people consider racist before he stormed off the stage.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know how to speak Spanish. I’m American,” he said before ending the set.
The remark implies that Americans do not speak Spanish or that people who speak the language are automatically not American.
It’s understandable why he’d want the crowd to be a bit quieter due to the nature of an acoustic set, but he definitely threw a fit before ending the show. The incident caused an onset of hate of Twitter about the event.
