How well do you remember the lyrics to “Weightless” by All Time Low?

It’s hard to believe it’s been 11 years since All Time Low released their third album, Nothing Personal.

The album, which dropped July 7, 2009, has been a staple in our rotation, particularly its lead single, “Weightless.” The vibrant video features snarky one-liners in line with the Nothing Personal theme and some iconic cameos from blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz.

More on All Time Low

All Time Low had a busy 2019 celebrating 10 years of Nothing Personal. Last July, the four-piece revealed they were re-recording the sophomore effort. Frontman Alex Gaskarth reflected on the pivotal release with AltPress ahead of the sold out album anniversary shows where they played two songs live for the first time.

“We started to sound like ourselves—like All Time Low,” Gaskarth says of finding their footing in the scene. “There was a perfect storm of developing from what we had already been doing on our [Put Up Or Shut Up] EP and So Wrong, It’s Right. Those records were very raw. It was songwriting that was a little bit unhoned and unpracticed, but the energy was there.

Nothing Personal was where we turned a corner and started learning how to craft a song,” he continues. “We even became a little bit experimental. There’s a few songs on that record that, at the time, were very weird to people. I remember when we first released ‘Weightless,’ people were tripping out online because we started it with electronic program drums. I remember a lot of the immediate reaction was like, “This sounds like Death Cab. What’s going on? Why are All Time Low suddenly an electronic band?”

You can read the entire conversation with Gaskarth here. ATL released the re-recording in November along with a documentary. You can stream It’s Still Nothing Personal: A Ten Year Tribute here.

The band also just released their latest full-length Wake Up, Sunshine in April and a new wine, Summer Daze Rosé. Check them both out here and here respectively.
