No, the Annabelle doll didn’t actually escape from the Warren’s museum
On Aug. 14, the doll from the Annabelle and The Conjuring film franchises became a trending topic on Twitter. Some users feared that the spooky doll had escaped from the Warren Occult Museum in Connecticut.
The trending topic has gained over 250,000 mentions on the social media platform. Now, the real reason why the Annabelle doll started trending has been revealed.

The Annabelle doll currently resides at the Warren Occult Museum. The museum was started by late paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, as seen in The Conjuring franchise.
On Friday, rumors began to swirl online that the Annabelle doll had somehow been stolen or escaped from the museum. Of course, all of this is just an internet hoax and the doll hasn’t actually gone anywhere.
Now, the real reason why the hoax started has been revealed. The rumors began after a story about British actress Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders) was released. During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Wallis talked about how she was able to get her The Mummy co-star Tom Cruise to run on camera. According to a YouTube video, the story got changed to “Annabelle escaped” when translated into Chinese, starting the hoax.
As some may remember, Wallis played Mia in the original Annabelle movie. In the Hollywood Reporter interview, she also talked about working with director James Wan on the film.

“I’m very grateful to him. He’s a wonderful man,” she said. “He’s so good [and] so hands-on, holding cameras and moving equipment. He was even fixing my makeup. He was literally my hair girl, fixed all my hair.”
Last month, we learned that the premiere date for the highly-awaited The Conjuring 3 is delayed due to coronavirus. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is now set to arrive sometime next year.
Even though it is all a hoax, many shared their reactions to the Annabelle rumors on Friday.
