QUIZ: Do you remember the lyrics to Armor For Sleep’s “Car Underwater”?

Back in late February, Armor For Sleep surprised fans with news of a 15-year anniversary tour for their beloved 2005 album, What To Do When You Are Dead. Featuring favorites such as “Car Underwater” and “The Truth About Heaven,” the AFS tour would mark their first since 2015.

The punk quartet were coming back with support from Never Loved, the Cold Seas and Silence Of You. However, like many, they were forced to postpone the run this summer due to the coronavirus

Though there won’t be live shows anytime soon, lovers of the 2005 staple can find some relief, however. The band announced a special anniversary edition of What To Do When You Are Dead via Equal Vision Records featuring unreleased B-sides and demos.

More on Armor For Sleep

As mentioned above, the 15th anniversary edition of What To Do When You Are Dead is packed with even more music for fans to enjoy. The band added demos of previously released album tracks, including “Car Underwater,” “The Truth About Heaven” and “Stay On The Ground.”

They also included demos off their 2003 debut full-length, Dream To Make Believe (“Dream to Make Believe,” “All Warm,” “Slip Like Space”). Going beyond rough cuts from past albums, Armor For Sleep also unearthed additional B-sides in “Who’s Gonna Lie To You,” “Always A Wish,” “Curse Into A Blessing,” “Standing Alone” and “Never Had The Chance.”

Frontman Ben Jorgensen explained why the band went with these particular songs from their early album eras.

“The B-sides we chose to include were demos written and recorded around the same time as the album that we never got to formally polish and fully produce for one reason or another,” he shares. “After a certain amount of time, we shelved the songs from this particular era in our history, but over the years, we’ve listened back to some of them and thought that one day, it would be cool to share them with the people who were fans of the album.
“We think these extra songs might share some of the same DNA as the songs on the album itself, and we hope they might evoke a similar sense of nostalgia in listeners who might be listening back to the album. We also chose to include some early demos of songs that we wound up re-recording for our first two albums for any of our fans who are interested in rough/early recordings.”

The vinyl is currently available as 500 copies of the transparent blue-green variant and 500 copies of the half green and half white split variant, which fans can see here.

The band also released an “Always A Wish” video, which you can see below along with the rescheduled tour dates. Tickets are available here.
