Is an ‘Austin Powers 4’ coming soon? Mike Myers says it’s “looking good”

The mastermind behind the Austin Powers franchise, Mike Myers, has recently hinted that a fourth installment may be hitting screens in the near future.

The movies originally came out in 1997 with Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. After much success, we got Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me in 1999 and Austin Powers in Goldmember in 2002. Since then, the franchise has yet to see the fourth installment.

That’s not to say that we haven’t seen bits of Dr. Evil here and there. Myers’ character has appeared on various Saturday Night Live performances and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

However, some of us want more.

“Well you’re gonna see Dr. Evil soon,” Myers says in an interview with Access. “Somewhere in the culture.”

The director, who at the time was promoting his latest project Bohemian Rhapsody, went on to explain why we haven’t seen a lot of Austin Powers action over the past couple of years.

“I’ve had three kids under the age of seven,” Myers says. “They take a long time to write, they always have. Jay’s been super crazy. He is doing a fantastic movie right now that he’s working on — It (Austin Powers 4) is looking good, so we’ll see.”

While there is no release date or concrete plans to begin shooting, we are still super stoked at the possibility of a fourth Powers flick.
