Our cherished childhood classic, Blues Clues is getting a facelift. The revival will be called Blues Clues & You and feature a new host.

In addition to the new name, it looks like our favorite Blues Clues host won’t be returning for the revival. After much controversy, Steve Burns will not reprise his role as Steve. Instead, Broadway actor Joshua Dela Cruz will play Blue’s beloved sidekick.

After rumors of drug addiction and a potential music career, Burns said that he left the iconic show simply because it was “time to go.” Since then, the actor asked for his job back after Nickelodeon announced the revival.

However, in a story with The Hollywood Reporter Burns said he was excited for the new host.

“I had the great honor of being a part of the search for the new host, and I give Josh two thumbs up,” Burns says. “He can definitely fill my shoes, and the rugby shirt.”

Cruz has played in a variety of Broadway shows, most recently as the understudy in Aladdin. Additionally, the young actor has appeared in television shows Bull and Time After Time.

“The search for the new host of Blue’s Clues & You was no small task, but we knew as soon as we met Josh that he was the perfect choice,” Shelly Sumpter Gillyard, Senior Vice President of Talent at Nickelodeon says. “From his genuineness to his comedic timing and range, there was no doubt that he could carry the show on for the next generation of preschoolers.”

Blues Clues & You will stat filming and production in Toronto later this month.

Just for funsies, here’s the clip of Steve going to college and leaving the Blues Clues team forever:
