The latest remake of A Star Is Born starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper is undoubtedly a great success. The film’s soundtrack even beat twenty one pilots’ Trench for No. 1 album on the week of its release.

However, the movie almost had a different male lead. Cooper recently revealed in an interview with Variety that he didn’t plan on starring in the movie at first.

“I saw this other person that I wanted to do this, who is an actual musician,” the actor and director says. “But [the studio] wouldn’t make the movie with him.”

Cooper doesn’t actually confirm that White was the musician he was looking forward to playing Jackson. However, Variety reports that a source revealed the actor met with the former White Stripes frontman about the movie.

Jack White addresses homophobic incident during show

Earlier this month, venue staff tried to stop a kiss between two women during a Jack White show. Concertgoer Allyson MacIvor says an usher told her she wasn’t allowed to kiss her female companion at White’s concert at Edmonton’s Rogers Place.

The musician responded to the incident on Instagram. Sharing a picture of two Beatles fans kissing, he said he was “disappointed” venue staff tried to stop the kiss between the couple.

“This photo is a lesbian couple sharing a kiss at a Beatles concert in 1964 while the rest of the crowd screamed for the band,” he says in the caption. “This is one of my favorite photos because of how beautiful the situation is; they are hiding in plain sight. Its 2018 now and two people expressing affection shouldn’t have to hide.”

The musician continues, “The news that two women were stopped from kissing during my show in Edmonton really disappointed me. At the next show in Calgary I dedicated the song ‘love interruption’ to the two women and encouraged everyone in the crowd to kiss their loved ones. Let’s promote love and acceptance wherever and whenever we can.”

After the incident, MacIvor says the usher escorted the couple to a venue manager who “apologized profusely, but it still didn’t help the incident and the hurt that came out of this.” White is currently touring behind his recent solo album.
