Burzum's Varg Vikernes freed after suspected terrorism arrest in France

Two days after he was arrested on terrorism suspicions, Norwegian neo-nazi musician Kristian “Varg” Vikernes, famous for his black-metal act Burzum, has been released.

Vikernes, who regularly shares racist and antisemitic views on his blog, had received a copy of the manifesto of Anders Behring Breivik, the far-right militant who killed 77 people in Norway in 2011 and was suspected of “preparing a major terrorist attack” after his French wife legally bought four rifles.

Vikernes's lawyer stated his client has “no link” with Breivik.

French officials said questioning of the suspect did not bring to light any evidence of a terrorist plot.

Varg Vikernes will however have to answer charges of “incitement to racial hatred” over the content of some of his writings on the web, according to the AFP.
