Chris Brown fires back at CHVRCHES after Marshmello collab criticism

Earlier this week, indie-pop trio CHRVCHES had some harsh words for EDM producer and collaborator Marshmello following his song with Chris Brown and Tyga.

Marshmello produced the track “Light It Up” with the two artists who both have controversial pasts involving sexual abuse allegations.

In a Twitter post, the band wrote “We are really upset, confused and disappointed by Marshmello’s choice to work with Tyga and Chris Brown. We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately tacitly endorses that behaviour. That is not something we can or will stand behind.”

Brown’s lengthy list of controversies includes the felony assault of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, numerous weapons charges and an ongoing lawsuit regarding an alleged rape in Paris.

Brown has now responded to the Glasgow crew through a pretty embarrassing comment on the band’s Instagram post.

“BUNCH OF LOSERS. these are the type of people I wish walked in front of a speeding bus full of mental patients. Keep groveling over you own insecurities and hatred. IM BLACK AND PROUD. AND I KNOW ITS HURTS THAT U GUYS ARE STRUGGLING WIT LIFE OR PEACE SO U ARE FORCED TO SEE MY SUCCESS. You aren’t even #2 (REMEMBER 2nd place only means YOU LOST FIRST! TA-TA. GOODDAY PEASANTS”.

The response is about as mature as you could expect from someone who ridicules sexual assault accusers with a t-shirt.

CHVRCHES frontwoman Lauren Mayberry took a more level-headed approach seemingly responding to Brown on her personal Instagram page.

Mayberry captioned her post saying “Angry men on the internet can call me all the names they want. I still think domestic abuse is wrong. Peace out, internet. Tomorrow is a brand new day.”

Not wanting the stir the pot any further, Tyga commented on the post with a decidedly dismissive comment. “Where all God’s children. Everyone makes mistakes no ones perfect. Let’s Keep the energy positive,” Tyga wrote.

Marshmello is still yet to comment on the issue.
