10 artists you probably shouldn’t try to crowdsurf to
Crowdsurfing is a fun thing to do at a concert. You have the chance to get closer to the band and maybe even make it onstage for a moment before security comes and escorts you off. As entertaining as it can be, though, there are certain shows where crowdsurfing just isn’t the move, either because it’s not part of the overall vibe or not safe.
Because sometimes it’s better to take it all in, here’s 10 artists you probably shouldn’t crowdsurf to.

1. Walk The Moon
It’s always a party at a Walk The Moon show. Even so, it’s still not one where being held up by other people would be ideal. The audience is bouncing, and if you’re trying to be caught by someone who’s unaware you’re in the air because they’re dancing, it’s not going to end well.
2. American Authors
American Authors present their audiences with fun, energy-filled sets but in a way that doesn’t make you want to have your friends lift you into the air. They’re a band who cause you to jam out with your body planted on the ground rather than jump into the crowd.
3. LANY
If you want to feel like you’re in a dream, a LANY concert is where you need to be. The colorful light show and chill vibes will have you rolling your body, eyes closed and arms in the air as you relax to their sweet tunes.

4. Ghost Atlas
Erra’s guitarist/vocalist Jesse Cash takes a step back from his metal roots with his solo project Ghost Atlas. Cash unleashes a lot of soul while performing, so much so that all you can do is stand there and watch as he commands the stage.
5. gnash
Going to a gnash concert can be an extremely emotional experience. From tracks such as “i hate u, i love u” to “t-shirt” the singer will have you in your feels for his entire set. It’s definitely not a scene where you want to try having other people hold you up.

6. Now, Now

Now, Now are one of those groups where when they’re performing, you just have to stand there and revel in it. The band release an evocative aura, giving their listeners dreamy-like tracks and allowing them to soak in the experience.
7. Young The Giant
When laid-back rockers Young The Giant take the stage, they build up the audience, getting them to sing along to every word by the end of the set. Easy swings and moving rhythms get people’s feet moving and heads bopping, creating a relatively relaxing atmosphere, something crowdsurfers would only distract from.

8. Night Riots
Night Riots put on a sick show that gets everyone moving. Lead vocalist Travis Hawley is always making his way into the crowd, especially at more intimate venues. The last thing he needs is to get kicked in the head by a crowdsurfer.
9. twenty one pilots
If you’ve ever been to a twenty one pilots concert, you know it’s a spectacle. We’re not saying it wouldn’t be the greatest thing ever to crowdsurf at one of their sets, but it might not be the safest thing to do. At the end of their shows, the duo tend to crowdsurf themselves, with Josh Dun being on a “drum island.” If you happened to be up in the air at the same time, you run the risk of getting some serious injury.
10. Mat Kerekes
Mat Kerekes’ concerts are refreshing and light. The Citizen frontman effortlessly holds everyone’s attention as he sings, sweetly playing his guitar and creating a tranquil atmosphere. If anyone was caught crowdsurfing at one of his shows, it would most likely feel out of place.
