Trailer for Cole Sprouse’s first movie since 1999 will make you emotional

We all know and love Cole Sprouse as the uber relatable Jughead Jones on the CW’s Riverdale. However, many of us also grew up with Sprouse. He starred with twin Dylan in The Suite Life of Zack And Cody and both also appeared in Friends.

Another other iconic role had the twins peeing on the side of a building next to Adam Sandler (among other things) in Big Daddy. The film hit theaters in 1999, and is Sprouse’s last feature film role to date. That is, until now as his latest film’s trailer jus hit the internet.

Sprouse announced his excitement for the film a few days ago in a since deleted Instagram post.

“Got the poster today for #FiveFeetApart! Trailer drops later this week, so keep an eye out. First movie since Big Daddy, very exciting. Got to work with some insanely talented people. Thanks to @justinbaldoni and @cbsfilms for putting this together, can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

Justin Baldoni is best known for acting on Jane The Virgin, but he’s taking on directing duties in this upcoming film. This is also not the first time the duo have worked together as Baldoni had a small, one-show role on a 2008 episode of The Suite Life of Zack And Cody.

Five Feet Apart stars Sprouse opposite Haley Lu Richardson (Edge Of Seventeen, Split) as two teens in love. While this might sound like your typical teen romance, it’s anything but as both are living with cystic fibrosis and can’t get too close to each other. Basically, it’s giving us some major The Fault In Our Stars vibes.

CBS Films’s synopsis is as follows:

“Stella Grant (Richardson) is every bit a seventeen-year-old…she’s attached to her laptop and loves her best friends. But unlike most teenagers, she spends much of her time living in a hospital as a cystic fibrosis patient. Her life is full of routines, boundaries and self-control – all of which is put to the test when she meets an impossibly charming fellow CF patient named Will Newman (Sprouse).

“There’s an instant flirtation, though restrictions dictate that they must maintain a safe distance between them. As their connection intensifies, so does the temptation to throw the rules out the window and embrace that attraction. Further complicating matters is Will’s potentially dangerous rebellion against his ongoing medical treatment. Stella gradually inspires Will to live life to the fullest, but can she ultimately save the person she loves when even a single touch is off limits?”
