fredo disco rock out on the lake for “somebody else”—watch

fredo disco were born from a typo—sort of. At least that’s what frontman Fredo Fosco’s phone thought when he was trying to type his name leading to the autocorrect-inspired band moniker.

Today, the indie act are teaming up with AP to premiere the video for “somebody else,” taken from their debut full-length, Very Cool Music For Very Cool People.

fredo disco–which also includes drummer Colin Riordan, guitarist Max King and bassist Aidan Cada—signed to Public Consumption Recording Company less than a month ago where they released their debut with additional tracks.

At the time, the four-piece also dropped the first single, “prom, post prom, etc.,” with a new narrative-driven video. While the outcome was satisfying, Fosco felt it was stressful, so they took a different approach with “somebody else.”

“The last music video we shot had a whole storyline that we had to stick to while filming, and while that ended up looking really good in the end, it was pretty stressful to film,” he explains. “For this one, we wanted to be more lax and fun, so we brainstormed in Colin’s basement until we came up with the lakehouse idea.”

The lakehouse, which belongs to Riordan’s family, held a personal connection for the foursome as they’ve visited throughout their time as a band. Between playing on a boat, kayaking and skateboarding, they had a blast capturing the footage. However, cramming into the bunk bed-adorned bedroom for a full setup was more of a challenge.

“Overall, it wasn’t too hard, but the one-take shot of us in the bedroom for the bridge took us about two to three hours to get right,” Fosco explains. “The last time we tried and finally got it right felt very good.”

While the bedroom may not have been too difficult to film in, the boat was a different story.

“During the shot of us jumping off the boat, the seat that I jumped off slid backward, so instead of jumping into the air, I mostly just tumbled into the water while everyone else looks really cool,” Fosco says with a laugh.
