Grooveshark co-founder Josh Greenberg has died at the age of 28

Music streaming service Grooveshark's co-founder, Josh Greenberg, has passed away at age 28 (via Rolling Stone). According to The Gainesville Sun, Greenberg was found dead in his bed by his girlfriend, Abby Mayer, on Sunday at their Gainesville, Florida home. Currently, no foul play or drugs are suspected to be involved in his death. Local law enforcement also confirmed via Twitter that there appears to be no evidence of suicide. An autopsy was performed today by the medical examiner to determine any heart or brain issues and a toxicology report is expected within the next two or three months.

As a freshman at the University of Florida in 2006, Greenberg founded Grooveshark with Sam Tarantino and would go on to become the company's chief technology officer. On April 30 of this year, Grooveshark shut down after a settlement the company had with Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group. Josh's mother, Lori Greenberg, told The Gainesville Sun that her son seemed mostly relieved about the settlement involving Grooveshark and that he “was excited about potential new things that he was going to start.”

Everyone at AP offers their condolences to the family and friends of Josh Greenberg.
