Here’s how Tommy Lee and MGK ended up spending ‘HALLOWEEN IN HELL’

Everyone knows that October is spooky season, and what better way to celebrate than watching scary movies, hearing your favorite creepy songs and listening to Halloween-inspired podcasts. To keep the vibes going, Machine Gun Kelly’s HALLOWEEN IN HELL podcast is finally premiering today. Check out the official trailer for the four-part podcast and what the cast exclusively told Alternative Press about the experience below.

HALLOWEEN IN HELL was conceived and produced by MGK and Audio Up’s CEO Jared Gutstadt. Written by Jimmy Jellinek, the podcast pays homage to The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Nightmare Before Christmas

The four-part series will feature MGK, 24kGoldn, Dana Dentata, iann dior and phem playing fictional characters of themselves competing in the “most evil singing game show of all time” with Tommy Lee appearing as Satan. The cast takes the listener through hell as they attempt to escape the evil that surrounds them.

This isn’t the first time MGK has ventured into other types of media. The Tickets To My Downfall creator has also starred in other projects such as Netflix’s Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt as Lee and Bird Box, among other credits. The horror-musical podcast is the first of its kind and one which MGK says he’s happy to be a part of with friends and past collaborators in phem (“5:3666,” “Sorry Mama”) and iann dior (“Sick And Tired,” “nothing inside”).

“Jared [Gutstadt] came with the whole vision and script. I just lent my voice,” MGK shares exclusively with Alternative Press. “It’s sick to hear a podcast with sound design and a score/soundtrack like it’s a movie. I like that the writer had the other characters, who are also my homies in real life, crack jokes on me whenever they could in the episodes.”

MGK offered Lee the role as Satan, and the Mötley Crüe drummer admits he couldn’t pass it up.

“MGK and I have been friends since he came up,” Lee shares. “We had such a blast making The Dirt that it was only a matter of time before we got to work together again. So, when he calls me and says ‘I’m doing this series and I’ve got the perfect role for you… SATAN,’ I’m IN! Add 24kGoldn to the mix and it’s on!”

For 24kGoldn, the making of the podcast was “hella fun with the whole crew” and he can’t wait for everyone to listen to it.

Metal powerhouse Dentata also hopes the production will serve as an inspiration to other creatives.

“Halloween is my favorite day of the year, and with everything going on, we have to think outside the box now more than ever,” the singer says. “I’m stoked to celebrate Halloween with this new innovative concept of a podcast that has great artists, a really funny script and really great music in it, too. I think it’s going to inspire a lot of artists and be a fun new experience for fans.”

dior also expressed his excitement for the podcast saying that “making music and acting with [his] brothers MGK and 24kGoldn has been amazing.”

Alt-pop singer phem says she’s excited to be part of the project as well and hopes listeners will be streaming it on Halloween night. Like Dentata, she says the podcast is a unique way to create something while the state of the world is out of whack.

“We’ve all been home this year, so this is the perfect way to spice up quarantine and give us some holiday cheer at the same time,” she shares. “The script is hilarious, and the music is really good… It’s also a cool way for us to be creative as artists without having to just put out records. I think this project is extremely adaptable to the current climate of the world, and I appreciate the experience that it brings to music lovers everywhere.”

From the looks of the official trailer and with new music from MGK, iann dior, Dana Dentata and 24kGoldn appearing on the soundtrack, the podcast is going to be an epic listen and one you won’t want to miss.
