John Heard, star of 'Home Alone' films, dead at 72

Actor John Heard, star of the iconic Home Alone movies, has passed away at the age of 72.

According to TMZ, Heard was found in his hotel room in Palo Alto, CA by maid services. Police were called to the hotel for a medical emergency, but the actor was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner is still investigating the cause of death, but police do not suspect foul play. 

A spokesperson for Heard stated the actor recently had minor back surgery on Wednesday, and was staying in the hotel while he recovered. 

Most remember Heard for his icon role as the father—Pete McCallister—in the Home Alone movie series. He also had roles in movies such as Cutter's Way, Gladiator, Big, Beaches, Awakenings, and even the first Sharknado. The beloved actor also made appearances on shows such as Law And Order as well as The Sopranos.
