Oh, Ignite. You almost had us. Actually, you did have us, the true and faithful, shaking in our Vans slip-ons when your latest full-length was kick started by “Begin Again,” a track with far too many references to nü-nitwits like Disturbed and Drowning Pool. Thankfully, like beach goers flick-whipping sand from towels, you shook the shit out and got down to feeding unnatural heaps of melody into sun-kissed OC hardcore. Cult of personality front-dude, Zoli Téglás’ voice and knack for combining the introspective and political with major-label-sized hooks hasn’t abated while the riffs challenge with a harmonious gristle that puts Ignite into the conversation with Bad Religion, Sick Of It All and Strung Out. If you can get past that first song without dry heaving in disgust, that is.
