Watch Jimmy Fallon give a "sneak peek" at Nicolas Cage as Joe Exotic

Yesterday, we found out Nicolas Cage would be starring in his first major TV role as Joe Exotic from Netflix‘s Tiger King series and now we’re getting to see a “sneak preview” courtesy of Jimmy Fallon.

Last night, Fallon gave his own impression of what it will look like on The Tonight Show and it’s as weird as you would expect.

The clip shows the “first footage” of Nicolas Cage as Exotic with Fallon donning a fake mustache, a greasy looking blue leopard print shirt, bleached mullet and wraparound sunglasses.

He even gives an awkward impression of what he thinks Cage will deliver when shouting out Exotic’s arch-nemesis’ name Carole Baskin.

Best of all, he straps on a guitar to give a musical offering just like Joe Exotic pretended to do.

In case you didn’t know, Exotic faked performing all of the songs in the series. It turns out, the men behind the music are Vince Johnson and vocalist Danny Clinton, who make up The Clinton Johnson Band. Sadly, Danny Clinton recently passed away. Both of their names appear in the credits of the show, but Joe Exotic refused to let anyone outside of his circle know the truth.

An article in Vanity Fair speaking to the musicians as well as a producer who also confirmed it was all fake.

“I had no idea he was going to Milli Vanilli the songs,” Johnson wrote Vanity Fair in an email. “It was a couple of months and two or three songs in when I was on YouTube one night and just happened to look up Joe Exotic. And there he was, lip-syncing and acting like the ghost of Elvis. I called him up, I was hot…And he bamboozled me about his reality show—that it was coming soon and he would make everything right as rain. I just wanted the proper credit.”

You can watch the clip below.

According to Variety, an eight-episode series is being produced by Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios centred on Exotic.

The series is reportedly being “taken to market in the coming days” and will be based on the Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild,” by Leif Reigstad.

The story for the show is revolving around Joe Schreibvogel (Joe Exotic) and focuses in on how he became who he is, lost himself in the character and the fight to keep his exotic animal zoo.
