'Minions' becomes third animated film in history to cross $1B mark

Do you ever see all of the Minions marketing materials that seem to be deeply ingrained in 2015's pop culture atmosphere and wonder if they have any effect on the film's overall success? The Hollywood Reporter just answered that question with a resounding “yes.” The film has become the third animated film in history, joining Frozen and Toy Story 3, to gross $1 billion in the worldwide box-office

The movie has grossed $321.9 million domestically and $682 million internationally, making it Universal's third film to cross $1 billion at the worldwide box office in 2015, which is a new record for a studio.

I, for one, welcome our new Minion overlords.
