Palm Springs Eternal take us to an emo "Funeral"—watch

Despite what their moniker may imply, emo act Palm Springs Eternal hail from Phoenix, Arizona. Formed following the end of members’ previous projects (including Equal Vision alum Dear And The Headlights), the band recently wrapped recording on their EP with Bob Hoag (the Maine, the Format, the Ataris) at Flying Blanket Recording.

Which is why we’re stoked to present the video for “Funeral,” taken from their forthcoming debut. Shot by Grant McCord and Cory Davis, the clip’s original concept was a typical performance video, but the band—vocalist/guitarist Charles Barth, bassist Chuckie Duff and drummer Jesse Cole Ward—decided to get more creative with it given the track’s name.

“We were originally just going to do a straightforward performance video, but we decided to get literal with the whole funeral concept,” Duff says. “Grant and I had to go buy that casket for the video, and I think we enjoyed that process a little too much. No one has ever had that much fun buying a casket—I hope.”

Keep an eye out for more information on Palm Springs Eternal’s forthcoming EP. The band will also be opening for Rooney Aug. 28 at the Rebel Lounge in Phoenix.
