15 photos of your favorite bands you won’t believe are 10 years old

2008 was an epic year full of side-swept bangs and all-neon everything. Most of those trends were left in the aughts, and most people would rather forget they ever embraced them, but that will never happen thanks to the internet. From bands who are still rocking it to lineups we wish would announce a permanent reunion already, check out some of the best snaps below.

The Devil Wears Prada hit the road with Silverstein, A Day To Remember, Protest The Hero and Four Letter Lie in early 2008. While in Florida, the band posed for a shot on a bright blue wall after being asked not to photograph outside of Disney World.

Benji Madden, Fall Out Boy and Taylor Swift

This photo from the set of TRL is so 2008 it hurts.

VersaEmerge self-released two EPs—Cities Built On Sand in November 2007 and Perceptions in July 2008—and this photo was snapped just before the second EP’s release. The band soon signed with Fueled By Ramen and released three more EPs and a 2010 full-length, Fixed At Zero, before eventually disbanding in 2015.

3OH!3 rose to prominence in 2008 with the release of Want, which included their mega-hit “Don’t Trust Me.” The album introduced the masses to their wacky personas that also gave way to photos such as this one where the electro duo are nonchalantly sprawled out in someone’s garden.

The Maine

In 2008, Glamour Kills ruled the scene with bands rocking looks on and off stage as well as being tapped to feature in ad campaigns. In one such instance, The Maine posed outside of the former Giants Stadium where they performed as part of the three-day Bamboozle festival.

All Time Low

This bowling-themed shot is one of the many iconic photos that exist of All Time Low, and according to photographer Adam Elmakias, it was quite an adventure to nail it. Due to a neighboring gas leak, the crew had to park and run six blocks in the rain to make it to the bowling alley. Frontman Alex Gaskarth is sporting a hand-etched “Sup Buzznet?” tee as an homage to the greeting the band posted via social media platform Buzznet. Gaskarth later partnered with Glamour Kills to produce a similar version for fans to buy.

Cobra Starship

Cobra Starship served as the house band for a prom-themed TRL episode (as if the powder blue suits and hot pink dress weren’t a dead giveaway) during the final year of the countdown series’ initial run.

Paramore

Paramore were looking pretty dapper at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, and Hayley Williams further solidified herself as a scene style icon with this classy yet totally punk-rock look. The band were nominated for Best Rock Video for “Crushcrushcrush” but lost to Linkin Park’s “Shadow Of The Day.”

The Maine, Pete Wentz and Nick Santino

Snapped at the Maine’s album release party for their full-length debut Can’t Stop Won’t Stop, Kennedy Brock, Garrett Nickelsen and Pat Kirch struck a pose with Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and Nick Santino (formerly of A Rocket To The Moon).

Panic! At The Disco

Panic! At The Disco released their sophomore effort Pretty. Odd. in the spring of 2008 and soon after embarked on the Honda Civic Tour with support from the Hush Sound, Motion City Soundtrack, and Phantom Planet. Death Cab For Cutie ended up joining two of the dates. The band went on to co-headline the Rock Band Live tour with Dashboard Confessional that fall, which would end up being their last with guitarist/vocalist Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker who both left in July 2009.

The Academy Is…

The Academy Is… posed backstage at Y100’s Jingle Ball where they performed in Florida as part of an all-star lineup that also included Fall Out Boy, the Veronicas, Katy Perry, Kevin Rudolf, Rihanna, Jesse McCartney and Lady Gaga. The band had recently released their third LP, Fast Times At Barrington High, which would end up being their final full-length before their 2011 disbandment.
Bring Me The Horizon

This shot was snapped in the summer of 2008 while Bring Me The Horizon were out on Warped Tour, a few months from the release of their sophomore record, Suicide Season.

Gym Class Heroes’ Travie McCoy and Katy Perry

Even 10 years ago, Katy Perry was embracing wacky yet totally on-theme outfits as seen here. The former Warped alums power couple attended the opening of Recycling Operations Center Las Vegas in New York.
Boys Like Girls

Boys Like Girls rocked the scene with their self-titled debut in 2006, which housed the uber-catchy “The Great Escape.” In early 2008, the album became certified gold and the single hit platinum status. The band’s success led to charting on TRL and the above visit where they shared the stage with the Jonas Brothers and Lady Gaga.
