There’s a lot of talk about connections between Riverdale and Pretty Little Liars. But now a link among the two teen drama shows could become a casting reality. One PLR star’s rumored to be joining Riverdale for the upcoming Season 3.

The CW series based on classic Archie Comics characters finished its second season just last month. But with viewers champing at the bit for Season 3 news, hints about who’ll be joining the cast next season have already cropped up.

So which Pretty Little Liar could sign on for this fall’s Season 3 of Riverdale? Rumors that PLR alum (and Life Sentence star) Lucy Hale would join Riverdale‘s cast, as noted by Comicbook.com, were already shot down by the actor:

But now, per PopBuzz, Riverdale fans are theorizing that Hale isn’t the Pretty Little Liars actor who’s coming to join Archie and the gang. In fact, many think that Holly Marie Combs, who played Hale’s character’s mother on PLR, will sign on.

Will Holly Marie Combs join the Riverdale cast?

Reportedly, some fans have noticed that Combs’ recent Twitter activity includes her liking tweets suggesting that Jughead’s mother may appear on the show’s next season. The actor apparently also liked tweets that tabbed her for the role.

And you may have seen Holly Marie Combs’s name recently. She’s been making headlines for opposing The CW’s upcoming reboot of Charmed, of which she starred in the original series. The actor says she opposes the premise of a Charmed reboot.

“I will never understand what is fierce, funny, or feminist in creating a show that basically says the original actresses are too old to do a job they did 12 years ago,” Combs said.
