Earlier this month, we found out that Comedy Dynamics had picked up the film (Romance) In the Digital Age—a music-focused feature about an emo band called Autumn in August—and needless to say, we were excited. We now have the first teaser clip (featuring Frank IeroAndrew W.K. and actress Annet Mahendru, among others), as well as a new original song, which you can check out below.

The film—written and directed by Jason Michael Brescia (Bridge and Tunnel) and set for release later this year—stars Lauren “LOLO” Pritchard, Chris Warren Jr. (Zeke, everyone's favorite creme brulee-loving chef from the High School Musical trilogy), and WWE star Curt Hawkins. The soundtrack will be released on CD by Comedy Dynamics and on Vinyl by Enjoy the Ride Records and will include original music by John Nolan (Taking Back Sunday), LOLO, James Dewees (Reggie and the Full Effect, The Get Up Kids), Daniel Brummel (Ozma), Zach Davidson (Vendetta Red) and more.

“I'm Not Coming Home For Christmas (I'm Coming Home For You)” is the first song released in advance of the film. Written by Vinnie Caruana (The Movielife, I Am the Avalanche), the original track was inspired by and written exclusively for the film.

“While producing the soundtrack, it was important for me to reach out to artists who were a part of the same scene that Autumn in August would have been a part of, so naturally Vinnie, who was from Long Island where the movie is set, made perfect sense,” says Brescia.

Looking for that same authenticity he found with Caruana, Brescia approached Nolan—whom he was working with on the music video for “American Night Club 1999” at the time—to write Autumn in August's smash hit in the film, “P.S. Whatever.”

“When Jason approached me about working on 'P.S. Whatever' he told me he wanted it to sound like a song that could've been a hit for a young emo band in the early 2000's,” Nolan says about writing the film's lead song. “That sounded like an interesting challenge to me. I went and found some notebooks of mine from that time period and put together a rough draft of the song. I handed that over to Ryan [Hunter, Envy on the Coast] and LOLO and watched it take shape and become a finished song.”

LOLO performs lead vocals on “P.S. Whatever” with John Nolan on dubbed background vocals.

“Pop punk is a world I've spent time in as a writer but getting to sing it and be a part of John's world while he was creating it has been amazing,” LOLO says about the experience of working with Nolan on the song.

(Romance) In the Digital Age—and its star-studded soundtrack—is expected to release this holiday season.
