Sad Summer Festival reveals stacked lineup for first cross-country run

As last week came to a close, several of our scene favorites began teasing something called Sad Summer Festival. At the time, not much info was available as each artist posted a mysterious clip and the date March 19.

That day is finally here, and we now know exactly what Sad Summer Fest is, and we’re now even more stoked for the warmer months to arrive.

Sad Summer Festival is an inaugural nationwide run featuring sets from State Champs, Mayday Parade, the Maine, the Wonder Years, Mom Jeans, Stand Atlantic, Just Friends and L.I.F.T.

The Maine’s John O’Callaghan summed up the new festival best.

“What could be better than being emo with your best friends in the sweet summer sun? Being emotional with your friends in the sweet summer sun at the Sad Summer Festival, that’s what,” he says. “Ditch the cold hot dogs and fucked up sunburns and join [us] all summer long!”

“This tour is about putting aside our differences and coming together as a community of people to enjoy music and art,” Mayday Parade’s Derek Sanders adds. “I’m thrilled to be a part of it and I can’t wait to see everyone out there.”

As if that’s not exciting enough, there will also be several special guests. Every Avenue, Four Year Strong, Set It Off, Forever The Sickest Kids and Emo Nite will be appearing on a handful of dates between them.

Back in October, Every Avenue revealed they would be reuniting for two shows for the first time since 2012. As for FTSK, the band began teasing a return earlier this year—their first since 2017.

In addition to performances, the festival will feature interactive activities, exclusive merch and more to be announced at a later date.

Sad Summer Fest is also incorporating a non-profit partner with more information to be announced later. That partner will be on-site to provide education and resources to fans.

Limited presales begin today at 2 p.m. EST with the code SAD. General tickets begin Friday at 10 a.m. local time, and Anaheim is on sale April 5 at 10 a.m. PST. All tickets are available here.

Mayday Parade, State Champs, Mom Jeans, Stand Atlantic, L.I.F.T. and Just Friends will play all shows with the Maine playing all but Minneapolis. You can check out the full list of dates with which bands are playing below.
