‘Avengers’ star says he would make posthumous appearances in movies

Samuel L. Jackson says he would be down to reappear in roles, even after his death. The Avengers and Star Wars star thinks that maybe someday he too will join Carrie Fisher and Peter Cushing in the world of digital recreation.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Jackson said he wouldn’t mind being digitally recreated at all.

When asked about how he feels about that possibility someday, Jackson just had one word to say: “Awesome.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, technology is capable of keeping our beloved actors alive well beyond their deaths.

For example, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story brought Grand Moff Tarkin (Cushing) back to life on the screen. Additionally, Star Wars: Episode IX will recycle unused footage of Carrie Fisher for her character of General Leia.

In fact, that kind of technology is already sort of a reality for Jackson. For the forthcoming Captain Marvel, Jackson is actually digitally de-aged, as the film takes place almost 25 years ago in 1995.

Additionally, Jackson has been acting in CGI-heavy films since 1999. In the story with the Hollywood Reporter, Jackson explained how he adjusted to technology’s ever-changing landscape. In recalling Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace and working with Director George Lucas, he says that you have to ask the right questions to properly react to something that isn’t really there.

“He said, ‘You need to know how big is it, where is it, how fast is it,’”Jackson says. “And I was, like, ‘Okay. How big is it?’ He said, ‘Uh, about an SUV.’ ‘How fast is it?’ ‘Mm, 40 miles an hour.’ ‘And where is it?’ ‘Coming straight at you.’”
