Stitched Up Heart dive deeper into ‘Darkness’ with two new tracks—listen

Stitched Up Heart are teaming up with AltPress to exclusively premiere two tracks off their forthcoming album, Darkness. Ahead of the sophomore album’s spring 2020 release, the band are dropping “Dead Roses” and “This Skin.”

The tracks each show a different side to the band. While both offer an emotional look inside their mindset, they’re each presented in a unique way.

“This Skin” is about trying to live up to expectations and facing insecurities, and Stitched Up Heart take control with lyrics such as “And I’m finally letting go of my secrets/I’m baring my soul for you to see it” set across riff-filled breakdowns.

“‘This Skin’ is written about being uncomfortable in your own skin,” vocalist Mixi Demner shares. “Hiding from the world so no one knows the real you.”

As for “Dead Roses,” Demner first sings out “You can’t break a heart that’s already broken,” setting the scene as she bares it all in the recounting of an emotionally and physically draining relationship.

“‘Dead Roses’ is dedicated to [an] ex,” Demner begins. “It’s about a verbally and physically violent relationship. It wasn’t an easy story to tell. I just hope it helps somehow.”

The dual singles follow a string of other tracks released off the upcoming album. So far, the band have previewed the new album with “Lost” featuring Godsmack frontman Sully Erna, the title track, “Problems,” “Warrior” and “Crooked Halo.”

Darkness follows the band’s 2016 debut, Never Alone. It’s due out March 13, 2020 via Another Century with preorders available here beginning Friday. You can get the next taste of the forthcoming release with “This Skin” and “Dead Roses” below.
