Tributes pour in for Taylor Hawkins at 64th annual GRAMMYs

Held in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 64th annual GRAMMYs paid a heartfelt tribute to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who recently passed away at age 50.

During their “In Memoriam” section of the programming, Hawkins was celebrated for his accolades and success. A compilation of video footage of his performance and live photos of him in action made for a touching tribute to the rock star.

He was celebrated with visionaries such as designing legend Virgil Abloh, Meat Loaf, Mark Lanegan of Screaming Trees and composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim, among many others.

The GRAMMYs also had Leslie Odom Jr., Rachel Zegler, Cynthia Erivo and Ben Platt perform a touching tribute while names of those who had recently passed were put across screens.

But it didn’t stop there. During her performance of “Happier Than Ever,” Billie Eilish wore a Taylor Hawkins T-shirt, holding it up at the end to the camera for the world to see.

During the premiere ceremony, Foo Fighters swept the rock category, bagging Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album. Foo Fighters didn’t come to collect their award. Per a statement made on their social media following Hawkins’ passing, the band have pulled out of tours and live appearances. Songwriter Jimmy Jam, who presented their segment of the awards and accepted them on their behalf, sent his “prayers” to Foo Fighters’ “loved ones.”
