'Toy Story 3' gets real life toy stop motion remake from teen brothers
The Toy Story franchise has earned a place in the hearts of any reasonable person since the first film dropped back in 1995, and it’s inspired a pair of teen brothers to go the extra mile in showing their appreciation.
Brothers Morgan and Mason McGrew spent the past eight years creating a shot-for-shot remake of Toy Story 3 using real toys and stop-motion animation.

The McGrew brothers started the project in 2010 using real toys, people and sets while shooting everything using an iPhone.
When the brothers from Des Moines, Iowa started the project, they were 12 and 15 and just completed the movie late last month.
“As soon as we saw Toy Story 3, it became our favorite film, and will forever be,” Mason McGrew tells BuzzFeed. “We’d always been [such] huge fans of Pixar and the Toy Story franchise that we eventually decided we wanted to pay tribute to the studio and film that we love so much.”
Upon completion, the brothers reached out to Disney for approval to post it on social media and with the go-ahead from the company, it’s out there for everyone to enjoy now.
“Overall, the hardest thing about this film was staying disciplined,” Mason says. “It was very important to us that we finish what we began as kids.”
Stop motion animation is very time consuming, which Mason explains saying a one to six second clip could take “more than 25 video elements.”
