Weighted explore the definition of home on debut EP 'A Better Place'
Chicago-based four-piece Weighted have been hard at work creating their debut EP, A Better Place, set for release Nov. 8. The group have teamed up with AltPress to give you the first listen of their four-track, emo-tinged release.
The alt-rock act secured local shows alongside Safe Bet, Better Love, Beach Bunny and Young Culture after releasing several demos to command attention to their project.

Drawing inspiration from the Hotelier, Basement, Movements and Title Fight, Weighted have constructed a collection of music that perfectly aligns with any coming-of-age narrative. The group explore the definition of “home,” navigate through toxic relationships and acknowledge personal headspace across their debut release. Dripping with whispery vocals before bursting into heavy chord progressions, they have mastered the new evolution of emo and alt-rock.
“A Better Place is a collection of songs about the common early adulthood struggle of truly defining ‘home,’” the band says. “These songs were written with a heavy heart about taking time to adjust to a new environment, cutting out toxic friendships, meditating on what holds you back or pushes you forward and learning from the examples of those who have inspired you—all while knowing that everything good takes time. As a band, we spent months writing [and] recording. [We] believe it’s a hopeful reflection of really wanting to find a better place, both mentally and physically.”
