Youth Fountain 2019

Youth Fountain self-reflect in new music video—watch

Youth Fountain are partnering with AP to bring you a new music video for two new singles, “Helpless/Letters To Our Former Selves.”

The video is a compilation of two separate tracks. It begins with the short intro “Helpless” and makes a smooth transition into the title track from their upcoming debut album Letters To Our Former Selves.

Using windows as a symbol for self-reflection, Youth Fountain deliver passionate lyrics thinking back on the lives they once had. Both songs were built on feelings of nostalgia and learning from your mistakes.

“‘Helpless’ contains a few simple lyrics representing yearning of the past,” vocalist Tyler Zanon says. “To commemorate on a given situation that one might have ruined and being able to acknowledge it all, but still having that looming desire to turn back time and fix things.”

The second track was written years ago when Zanon was a teenager during a time where he was figuring out who he was.

“The continuation of the title track ‘Letters To Our Former Selves’ is what I’ve always felt [lyrically] as a mental note on the person I had been in my early teenage years,” he states. “I wrote the song when I was 18 as everything was changing and falling apart in life. I thought to rerecord it for this album knowing it could fit in with the rest of the songs we had.”

Letters To Our Former Selves will be released March 8 via Pure Noise Records, and preorders are available here.

The duo will be joining Can’t Swim on tour this spring, then later embark on their own tour promoting the new LP. Tickets for both tours can be found on their website. Check out where they’ll be headed below.
