Yves Tumor appears on the cover of Alternative Press’ Fall 2023 Issue

Yves Tumor’s shadowy mythos is a beguiling part of their artistry. Who is Sean Bowie, really? At their core, they remain an artist who upends a varying number of styles, all of which are hard to summarize in 30 seconds — and that’s the whole point.

In our Fall 2023 Issue, Samuel Hyland breaks down what exactly makes Tumor, and their music, so alluring. From their refusal to confirm or deny theory to the catharsis of their work, they inspire a great deal of hope for all the days we have left. “Tumor’s music functions best as a psychic mirror, perhaps a portal to versions of ourselves we have yet to meet in real life,” Hyland writes. “On their end of the deal, at least from what we can see, they have long graduated into the infinite existence their work preaches of — definitionless, ageless (deepest apologies to all ‘NO WAY YVES TUMOR IS 66 YEARS OLD???’ tweeters), ceilingless. More and more, listening to Tumor, it feels like the only ingredient to our own infinity — or our understanding of theirs — is being bold enough to believe in it.”

The all-new photos by Noah Dillon capture the grittiness of Tumor’s mythology as they pose in parking lots and hallways. As ever, Tumor follows a long-standing tradition of not revealing their face on the cover. Plus, grab an exclusive variant of their fifth studio album, Praise a Lord Who Chews but Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds).

The Fall 2023 Issue also comes with previously announced cover stars Scowl — available now in our store — and stories on Genesis Owusu, Yeek, and the Rose, among others. Stay tuned for more reveals this week.
