NEVERLYN-SIZED

Zac Eisenstein (Man Overboard) is "Far From Perfect" in Neverlyn video

Bay Area pop-punks Neverlyn are building a reputation for themselves as a dynamic, energetic unit. Today Altpress is positively stoked to premiere the video for “Far From Perfect,” which features Man Overboard frontman Zac Eisenstein trading verses with lead singer Anna Neitzel. The song comes from the band’s new album Beauty Sleep, out now.

“’Far From Perfect’ is about the anxiety and nerves that go into the start of any new pursuit,” Neitzel says about the song. “The unknown can be intimidating. And lack of self-confidence when diving into something you’re unsure about can be difficult.”

The song’s equal measures of adrenaline and angst are pristine. Those elements are only further heightened by the video where Neitzel and Eisenstein trade verses and awkwardness. If you’ve never felt like any of their characters in the video, well, you simply haven’t lived. It’s human and on-point. Did we mention how great the song is?

“Our director Casey Wieber of 1134 Productions pulled some visual and plot inspiration from 500 Days Of Summer and The Graduate to express the mystery of ‘what if’ and what can happen if you stop standing in your own way,” says Neitzel about the clip.

Neitzel says Eisenstein’s participation was a breeze. “We started working with Zac after he heard about our band through our producer, Steve Klein. He worked on two of the Man Overboard records,” she says. “We asked Zac if he would want to collaborate on something with us and it all just worked out.”

From the dudes congregating in front of the beer fridge to the girls doing shots on the couch, “Far From Perfect” is, well, perfect. In addition, it makes us want to start our party plans now, once we can get out of the house. Only complaint? The amount of vodka Eisenstein wasted in that careless pour. Oh, and one more thing: Neverlyn are your new favorite band. Watch and love.
