See Iggy Pop play God in the Armed’s new “Sport of Form” music video

The Armed, a hardcore collective based out of Detroit, are gearing up to release the “biggest, greatest rock album of the 21st century.”

Arriving Aug. 25 via Sargent House, the record boasts contributions from Sarah Tudzin (illuminati hotties), Mark Guiliana, Patrick Shiroishi, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, and plenty more. To back up their lofty mission statement, the band shared lead single “Sport of Form,” which comes with a wild music video that features vocals by Julien Baker and an appearance by punk legend Iggy Pop.

“The world that surrounds us is complex, and our lives are truly more akin to a sport of form than one of measure. Yet, so many people see it as exactly the opposite. Lyrically, this song is about the human need to win a game that we’re not even actually playing. Sonically, it is a reflection of that cognitive dissonance through a constant whiplash between beauty and ugliness, severity and tenderness, obscenity, and grace,” vocalist Tony Wolski says of the single.
