‘The Batman’ director offers first look at Robert Pattinson’s Batmobile
Director Matt Reeves is revealing to fans what the Batmobile will look in the film in a series of photos he's posting on his social media accounts.
Earlier in February, we also got our first look at the new Batman with a camera test of Pattinson wearing the suit.
Originally, Warner Bros. was torn between Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies, X-Men: First Class) asking for both actors to be taped before making their decision.
The upcoming trilogy has no connection to Ben Affleck’s Batman but instead, focus on Bruce Wayne in the formative stages of Batman.
“He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been,” says director Matt Reeves. “I’d love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it’s going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation.”
During an interview with Variety in September, Pattinson revealed what it was like putting on the iconic suit for the first time.
“I put it on. I remember saying to Matt, ‘It does feel quite transformative,’” Pattinson says. “He was like, ‘I would hope it does! You’re literally in the Batsuit.’ You do feel very powerful immediately. And it’s pretty astonishing, something that is incredibly difficult to get into, so the ritual of getting into it is pretty humiliating.”
Now, Reeves is offering up our first glance at the Batmobile and it looks entirely original. It's stepping away from the heavily armored look of previous Batmobiles with a more classic car look to it.
